The following are all true experiences.
PHONE COMPANY TERMINATED THE LINE
A lady pensioner recently had her phone line and internet cut off for no apparent reason. Her former partner had assigned the line to her alone so she paid the bills. She had done so for over a year. When her partner who was moving away from the area, he phoned the internet phone company to ask them to withdraw this service, which they did on the specified date, not only did they do that but by error of an incompetent call center operative they terminated this lady's line 3 days later. She asked for it to be reconnected immediately as she was the carer for her disabled elderly mother and need the line so if her mother needed her she could call her. Their response was once the line was terminated if would take up to 3 weeks to reconnect and she would have to pay the line provider £125,00 to do this. A senior person at this Phone company company realized it was their error and reimbursed her the £125.00 she would have to pay to be reconnected. Further compensation has yet to be agreed .
ENGINEER FAILED TO SHOW UP.
A gentleman recently moved into the area and had to be connected to the phone line. The company agreed to do this in about 2 weeks time and insisted that the gentleman remain in his house from 8 am to 6 pm .for the engineer to come and put up the line. The engineer did not come. The gentleman phoned up the company and he was told that the engineer did not need to come to his home. He had waited in all day for the engineer that did not show up. Compensation was offered after a long period of negotiations.
WRONG NAME
A person recently changed their phone company and had to tell them 5 times that they had not only spelled his name wrong but it was totally wrong after the first 3 letters. It took five phone calls to get his name spelled properly despite spelling out the letters of his name in the phonetic code
HOLE IN THE ROOF
An elderly resident living in sheltered accommodation noticed a wet patch on her ceiling and called the national owners of the property. She was told as it was the weekend it was not an emergency.. However she insisted it was and after much negotiation a plumber was dispatched to her house .After looking in the loft he told her that it was not the water tank leaking but a hole in the roof. During the plumbers investigation the damp patch collapsed and water started to seep through.. The housing association repairs team still declared it a non emergency. 5 days later the roof still has a hole and the hole in the ceiling is getting bigger. A week after the leak was diagnosed it was repaired in 10 minutes and the ceiling will be repaired at a much later date.
BULLS**T BRITAIN
The country I was born into in 1942 suffered a war that we won and we had freedom. We all thought that things would get better.
This was far from the truth, muggings up, knife crime up, car crime up, gun crime up.
4 recessions in my lifetime and this one now the worst.
A social services that is totally incompetent with children put at serious risk that has resulted in at least 5 deaths maybe more.
They used to say a green and pleasant land .HA ha pollution Britain more like. Each European country is competing to have the largest airport it will not be long before Gatwick and Heathrow is one big airport wiping out all the green fields in Surrey and Middlesex along with all the villages and displacing the population.In Britain today people dont count.
A list of incompetent services includes Housing associations, garages, banks, and law enforcement officials.
One individual person had problems with all the above mentioned.
Housing association 12 months waiting for repairs Still waiting for a response after inspecting the requirement.
national garage chain unable to carry out tracking on a popular car a Citroen Saxo.
Phone supplier without prior warning changed the telephone number of this subscriber and she did not request a change of number. It was 4 days before she realized the number had changed
A well known high street Bank, without consent set up a direct debit that was not required or requested resulting in the lady in question being well overdrawn in her bank account.
The law enforcement agency had agreed to tell the elderly sister of her deceased brother that he had died. 4 days after the death of this elderly gentleman the agency had not bothered to carry out this simple task
All the above happened to the same person in a period of 3 days

PASSING THE BUCK
FLOOD IN GIBBONS CLOSE BOREHAMWOOD
An accumulation of water outside the old people's bungalows in Gibbons Close Borehamwood. This water has been flowing for the past 6 weeks. Viola the water company deny it is their responsibility and stating it is the responsibility of William Sutton Homes who have done nothing about it despite several residents complaining.Avinity Sutton claim the job has been completed yet it has not.,In fact it is getting worse and no council department or Sutton seem to know what is going on.
Following a call to Viola from one of our journalists on the 24th of June and within an hour contractors turned up to repair the leak
and the job was completed by July 2nd 2010

BUS DRIVERS A LAW UNTO THEMSELVES I am getting a vast number of complaints about bus drivers in Borehamwood. Sharpe breaking, driving too fast and failure to stop at request stops when a potential customers hail the bus. I will name the bus companies and if possible will identify the drivers. I am not blaming the bus companies but what i am stating is that more discipline and checks should be made on their drivers, Some of the incidents are not too far removed from those of the 70's TV comedy 'On the Buses'
VISIT TO A HEALTH CLUB
On Thursday the 22nd of
July I went to the Virgin active Health club in Borehamwood for a
trial visit by invitation. I went there with my personal trainer Mr
Simeon Ezekiel who would give me advice on how to use the equipment.
After a swim in the well appointed
pool, Simeon took me into the Gym where he introduced me to the
apparatus. I went on several of the appliances following his advice.
It is wise not to overdo any activity if this is your first visit to
the gym. In this large complex there were plenty of fitness
instructors so if you need help they are on hand to give you the
benefit of their experience.
The staff were very helpful,courteous
and willing to converse. I stayed for just under 2 hours and enjoyed
my stay.
On a 12 months contract is is only £43.95 a month and at
this price it seems to be value for money. If you use the complex
every day for as long as you like it works out at under £1.50. a
day. Other facilities include a sauna, steam room, restaurant
several Virgin TV screens and free internet via 6 computers in the
reception area..
