BUS DRIVERS A LAW UNTO THEMSELVES

I am getting a vast number of complaints about bus drivers in Borehamwood. Sharpe breaking, driving too fast and failure to stop at request stops when a potential customers hail the bus. I will name the bus companies and if possible will identify the drivers. I am not blaming the bus companies but what i am stating is that more discipline and checks should be made on their drivers, Some of the incidents are not too far removed from those of the 70's TV comedy 'On the Buses' Mary Kelly Elstree
                           DANGEROUS DRUG
If you are thinking of packing up smoking read this article first. I am of the opinion that champix is a very dangerous drug and advise people don't use it

Child abuse exists in all the major religions

It is not only in the Catholic church that child abuse exists but in the Protestant, Free churches, Buddhist, Hindu ,Jewish and Islamic communities . It matters not what religion you follow even in the agnostic communities it  is practised too. We must be more diligent it stamping out child abuse.
Far too many lives have been ruined by child abuse. Are there more paedophiles today than ever before or did History cover this up as normal activity.  If you surf the net you will find a lot of information about child abuse all over the world

AFFINITY SUTTON DON'T USE LOCAL BUSINESSES OR LABOUR

Dear Webmaster
After reading your artical about Apollo (CLICK HERE) I think you should look into the way comunity building services ltd(affinity sutton)has treated local traders by buying all their materials from outside the local comunity and the extra cost they are paying from other suppliers and not from our local shops its disgusting.
John Unwin

I agree its disgusting, take from the locals but give nothing in return. It is over 5000 homes in Borehamwood that belong to Affinity Sutton. As businesses close down in Borehamwood so will the residents so false economy  from this Housing Association. I hope i am wrong but I do hear that they do not use borehamwood based traders either.

BEST AND WORST BROADBAND

I have recently looked at Internet suppliers and pleased to report  that ORANGE  is the best followed by AOL
The worst  Virgin media wireless
and BT home broadband
Virgin wireless is so slow that is can take up to 3 minutes to load a page. Contrast this using ORANGE on a BT line and wireless just 10 seconds. AOL has a nasty habit of billing you for a product you do not use. BT BROADBAND   has a habit of cutting off without warning and difficulty in opening your email. often you cannot open it. Best advice use a web based email ie Yahoo or mail.com DJB Webmaster
PUBLISH AND BE DAMMED
BOREHAMWOOD AND ELSTREE TIMES
Is our local rag getting worse. Very little local news and less than 10% local ads. My mate advertised twice in that paper and got no response. Maybe they are charging too much for their adverts or local people don't rate it as a good medium to advertise their products. Delivery is not  very good We used to get it every week my mother  and my sister and  my aunt do not get it anymore that is 4 different areas in the wood
Simon Watson Borehamwood
As the editor of this tried and trusted and talking to 4 members of our staff they do not get it either. So advertisers beware why advertsie in a publication that does not get delivered However you can always keep up to date by reading it on line news and sport only

LETS KEEP THE CCTV CAMERAS
Despite the coalition government saying cctv cameras should be reduced, i say No! CCTV has helped local police and the council catch rogues and villains.  If the CCTV cameras were made inactive crime would be increased and with fewer police on the street. CCTV has helped to catch fly tippers and robbers saving the council and the country money as well as keeping our community free of rubbish and crime. Imagine all the cameras turned off and this is the green light for all those who commit crim.

DON'T TRUST THE COURIERS

When you pay for a next day delivery you expect the delivery to  be on that day. I was expecting a delivery on a certain day. The delivery was made but not to the proper address. A signature was obtained but not  to the person named on the parcel and not the right address. Most people would check the name and address on the parcel and if it was not for them or their address they would refuse it. It seems that the couriers did not put down the full address on the parcel. I did eventually get the parcel but too late for a further delivery to Essex

MY VIEW OF BOREHAMWOOD

In my days of house-share and bedsits I had lived with people of different nationalities, races and social class. I have been to quite a lot of countries and met people of many different cultures whether than be nationality culture, class culture or other. I work in the Disabled People’s movement. Never have I experienced culture shock; until that was. I moved to Borehamwood.
Now I am in no way posh but I felt overwhelmed, alienated and still do, by the deluge of chaviness that clothes this town. It seemed to drown out the chance to experience the beauty of diversity any more. I am assumed, possibly by my mere residence in the town, to hold the same views and have the same likes and dislikes as those I feel little or no affinity with. It is maybe my fault for being the person I am. I talk to anyone and say hello to most people I pass, or at least Bearsac does! (For those of you that don’t know who Bearsac is see www.bearsac.com Borehamwood’s famous talking teddy bear).
It’s not all bad; I sort of have a love/hate thing going on towards The Wood. People are friendlier than my native Hampstead Garden Suburb (full of conventional snobs) and there is a sense of community, something I had never felt anywhere else I have lived.
I love that there are lots of green areas and that you don’t see many people at them unless they are walking dogs over in Parkfields or swigging lager or Diamond White by the kids skate park in Aberford Playing fields. In Parkfields you even see dogs that aren’t Staffs! In fact I don’t think I have ever seen a Staff at Parkfields.
Even the dogs are clones around town. They all look like Staffs, all walk like Staffs, and all lick their lips like Staffs when looking at Bearsac. If Staff owners made them wear clothes they would all likely be wearing baggy-arse tracky bottoms and baseball caps or sport a number 1 (or is a number 2 – what do I know about it)! Why do the female of the species (humans that is not Staffs) turn down the top of their track-suit bottoms? This strange custom, I guess, is not confined to Borehamwood but is does seem to be the convention here.
I have Asperger’s Syndrome and part of it for me is difficulty recognising people’s faces. I don’t think it is that alone though that makes things hard for me with recognition. I put it down also to cloning. Is there a chav cloning conspiracy thing going down in the Wood? They all look the same - same face, hair, clothes, walk. They all sound the same and seem to share the same inability to swear correctly. If one is going to swear at least pronounce it correctly!
Where is the factory?
I wonder if their brains are cloned too. I recently went to an anti-war demo in London. Even when away from the demo, walking with my signs reading ‘Troops out of Afghanistan - No more Imperialist wars’ and Free Palestine’ I was getting toots from people in cars and relevant comments. However, when I arrived back in the Wood and walked along Shenley Road 7 out of the 11 people that commented had no idea what the slogans were about! Some even thought it was some sort of joke connected to Bearsac.
Is there some brain injuring deposit in the water, or indeed the supply of Diamond White to the WD6 area?
I do love, though, the many characters of Borehamwood and love to exchange a few words with them if I see them down the village or in Leeming. (OMG – I use the ling.) It is the characters that make this town diverse in any sort of way. They are the ones, though, that get picked on by the chavs. Well chavs, you are just jealous as us characters are all different and you’re all the same.

I wanted some graphics put on my vehicle. I phoned all of the local sign companies  in Borehamwood and Elstree.  2 had unobtainable numbers 1 failed to reply to my voice mail and the other quoted 1/3rd more than Sign A Rama in Harrow. They completed the job on the same day in under an hour and a half the very reasonable price they quoted. The moral of this story is it pays to shop around.

The banks would rather give massive bonuses  to their employees than help out the small business. The bonuses they get in some instances will be bigger than the loans small businesses require. The banks  forget we own them with a tax bail out. If we did not bail them out they would  get nothing as they would be unemployed. It seems they are giving our money to the employees before they pay back what they owe

ARE OUR POLITICIANS CURRUPT

I am a politician you can bribe me

How many of our politicians are in the job for their own prestige. It seems they ignore their electorate doing just what they want to do. This is not a democracy but a kind of dictorship. The Usa is the same.. Remenber  Al Gore won the popular vote against George W Bush  but the unelected electorial college decided they wanted Bush. Democracy is a figment of the over active imagination.

Some politicians do a very good job and do listen to their constituents but the party whip rides rough shod over the electorates wishes. There should be more independant candiates who are not under the party whips.  If you need evidence of the curruption, count how many ex MP's were charged with fiddling their expences or taking bribes. Too many safe seats and jobs for the cronies. People need to think more before they vote. is this candidate a yes man or a man who listens to what we want and not what his party chiefs want.
Most politicians unlike your web pages are afraid to stand up for what they believe in, they are only in the job for what they can get out of it.
If i had sent this aticle to the newspaper they would not have printed it I hope you do thanks   JK from Elstree

DONT BOTHER TO PHONE THEY WONT RESPOND
When you phone a business or a public servant the least you can expect is a response. You leave an answerphone message and they do not do the decent thing and phone you back. I have phoned 7 public servants 2 of them members of the council and 3 businesses in this last month none of them got back to me and I am not the only one who has had this trouble, I know of at least 4 other people who got no response from their phone calls.
