PAUL WILDER: MY QUEST FOR TV FAME (SMP Publishers - £7.99)
Paul Wilder always had it firmly fixed in his mind that he wanted to be on TV, but realised that he didn’t have any specific talent.
By his own admission he couldn’t sing, play an instrument or act. However, once he had contrived ways of appearing on TV, his
quest for TV fame really began in earnest. In this new book the reader is taken on a light-hearted journey as Paul describes his
numerous prolific game show and quiz show appearances (including two bans he received during process). Wilder also reveals
how his enthused quest has led him to appearing as a supporting artist on some of the UK’s top TV programmes, including:
EastEnders, The Bill, and Holby City.Along the way, Paul also reveals the eclectic array of celebrities that he has worked with
or encountered – Freema Agyeman, Paul Daniels, Connie Fisher, Des O’Connor, Jonathan Ross and Jerry Springer – to name
just a few. This is an engaging book full of personality, which is befitting of the subject itself. Wilder is a unique and refreshingly
enthusiastic individual with an inspiring zest for life. In reading Paul’s life story, written with Paul Burton, one is able to learn more
about the subject and his continuing quest for TV fame TV Presenter Kaye Adams said, “I wish I knew Paul Wilder’s secret.
He’s had a longer running media career than me and been on more shows. Read his book. I know I will. Comedian Keith Lemon
said, “Meeting Paul Wilder totally inspired me. He’s a fantastic bloke. This book should be turned into a movie or a sitcom.
I’ll play him! Good luck with it Paul.

by Jason Cook

code of honour among thieves, to the "plastic gangster", a "wannabe" who has all the bluster but none of the power. Despite everything, there is light at the end of the tunnel for the narrator, as he retains his hopes for the future, and keeps his aspirations alive amid the chaos. And all the time the story is fuelled by cocaine, the devil's dandruff.Jason's other books
Tells the tale of a young man's drug-addled youth misspent in Borehamwood, where cheap gossip  was rife, "friends" were just ships passing in the night, and dreams remained just that. Given the young man's drug habit, his involvement with gangsters, violence and prison seems inevitable. Cookster dissects the psyche of personalities fuelled by drink, drugs and power, and draws colourful sketches of the different types of gangster from "the Real McCoy", a highly influential "gentleman"

Travels with My Teddy Bear

Travels With My Teddy Bear is the fascinating record of the author's journeys undertaken
with her beloved teddy Bearsac, through familiar cites of Europe and regions as remote as
China and Mongolia. It is both a travelogue that expounds the joys and problems of travelling
through different countries and cultures, and an illustration of the highs and lows of
Asperger's Syndrome, a condition characterized by issues with social and communication skills,
but also by such strengths as logic, focus and loyalty.

                                                   Countries of Bearsac's trips:
America, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Sri Lanka, Holland, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Germany,
Poland, Japan, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Mongolia, China and 4 days on the Trans-Mongolian
 train.

About the Author

Born 1967, in North London within a 'dysfunctional family', Debra boarded at a 'Special Needs' school with her brother. Despite her schooling, Asperger's syndrome - a high functioning form of Autism - was not picked up. Unimpressed by mainstream employment and society Debra found hope within the learning difficulty and disability rights fields and more recently a voice within the Aspie community. At 38 she was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. This put her life in to perspective and set her free. The combination of two passions 'Bearsac' her beloved teddy bear and travel has become the mainstay preoccupation and, like many Aspies, her preoccupation has become more than just a hobby, thus this book.

                Ivor Rosenberg
Profile of the man with time
                 on his hands

Ivor left school at the age of 14 in 1948 in Hackney where he was born.
He served a three year apprenticeship and attended night school to learn
watch making skills He loved working with time pieces and saved up to buy
the shop that was to be called Eros.He did his conscription in the
RAF Regiment and was posted to Egypt in 1952 and spent 18 months
 in the Suez canal zone
It was a cold November morning in 1961 when 27 year old Ivor and his wife Joan opened Eros Jewellers in Aycliffe Rd. .Financially things were very difficult in the beginning, Ivor doing trade work for a number of shops and Joan addressing envelopes and knitting baby cloths to help pay the overheads and accounts.
They both worked day and night for several years and eventually cleared the debts.
His beloved wife Joan passed away in 2007 and he found it very difficult to run the shop and also to do repairs. However he has kept going successfully since Joan died. Now he has decided to close the shop that has been part of the furniture at 140 Aycliffe road Borehamwood. for 49 years.
In almost half a century that this shop has been trading Ivor has made many friends and will be sorely missed when 2010 comes to an end. At 78 years of age he feels its time to retire and maybe take things easier though he openly admits he will miss the pleasure of meeting customers and friends in his shop.
He considers it to have been a huge privilege to have served the people of Borehamwood He is sad that Joan will not with him to enjoy the completion of their venture.
During his time at the shop he did his bit for charity when with donations from customers he raised over £4000 for the North London hospice.
Father of two daughters one a teacher the other a musicologist .
He loves music and enjoys playing the alto saxophone at jazz gigs and hopes he will have plenty of time to enhance his musical skills during his retirement, he also intends and rig up a repair bench and perhaps do a few repairs for friends to while the time away.

I have only known Ivor a short time but I for one will miss his turn of phrase and his jovial manner which has endeared him to many residents of Borehamwood past and present.
